DeQuincy - On November 20, 2025, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash on Louisiana Highway 12 at Pete Gimnick Road in Beauregard Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 76-year-old Lillian Viator of Sulphur.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2020 Ram 1500 was traveling east on LA Hwy 12, while a 2007 Nissan Xterra was traveling west. For reasons still under investigation, as the Ram attempted to turn left onto Pete Gimnick Road, it entered the path of the approaching Nissan. As a result, the Nissan struck the right side of the Ram.

Viator, who was the front seat passenger in the Ram, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died. The drivers of the Ram and the Nissan sustained moderate injuries and were also transported to a nearby hospital. All occupants were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

Standard toxicology samples were collected from all drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
