New Iberia – On September 27, 2026, shortly before 2:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Louisiana Highway 3212 near Grand Prairie Road in Iberia Parish. The crash claimed the life of a 45-year-old male of Opelousas.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Harley-Davidson was traveling west on LA 3212. For reasons still under investigation, the Harley-Davidson exited the roadway to the right and struck a concrete curb.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a DOT-approved motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash. Impairment is unknown; however, standard toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers urge all motorists to make responsible decisions while operating a motor vehicle.
