One Driver Killed and Three Injured in Head-on East Feliciana Parish Crash
Slaughter – On November 11, 2022, shortly after 7:00 pm, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA 67 south of LA 412 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 39-year-old Jason Herrin of Slaughter.
The initial investigation revealed that Herrin was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala headed south on LA 67. At the same time, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was headed north on LA 67. For reasons still being investigated, Herrin crossed the center line, entered the northbound lane, and struck the Silverado head-on.
Herrin, who was restrained at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was unrestrained and sustained moderate injuries. There were two other occupants in the Silverado, one adult passenger whom was unrestrained, and a toddler that was properly restrained. All occupants of the Silverado were transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor to moderate injuries. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, statistics demonstrate that properly worn restraints can significantly reduce your risk of being injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in crashes.
