St. Landry Parish – On April 16, 2025, detectives with the Louisiana State Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft unit, in collaboration with the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission (LUMVC), launched an investigation into an inventory audit at AJ Auto Sales, located at 1786 School Road in Opelousas. The investigation led to the arrest of 55-year-old Allen Guillory, Sr., co-owner of the dealership.

During the investigation, detectives discovered four stolen vehicles: a 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, a 2021 Cadillac Escalade, a 2022 GMC 3500 Denali, and a 2021 GMC 2500 AT4. Each vehicle was found to also have an altered VIN and was accompanied by a fraudulent title provided by Guillory. The total combined value of the stolen vehicles is estimated at $275,000. Investigators also determined that Guillory allowed dealer tags assigned to the dealership to be used on the stolen vehicles, as well as by an unauthorized individual, in violation of Louisiana vehicle dealership regulations.

Guillory was processed into St. Landry Parish Jail on the charges of LA R.S. 14:69 – Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (4 counts) and LA R.S. 14:207 – Motor Vehicle, Alteration or Removal of Identifying Numbers (4 counts). The investigation remains ongoing.

This case underscores the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and regulatory agencies. The partnership with LUMVC exemplifies how joint efforts enhance investigative effectiveness and maintain the integrity of the automotive sales industry. By working together, these agencies can more effectively address auto theft and protect consumers.
