St. Martin Parish – On March 10, 2025, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a report of a disabled 2024 Jeep Compass partially in the roadway of Interstate 10 near Breaux Bridge. What began as a motorist assist led to the arrest of four individuals from Michigan connected to an organized crime group operating across multiple states.

While assisting the occupants, Troopers observed signs of drug activity. A subsequent probable cause search resulted in the seizure of approximately 30 grams of marijuana and 100 ounces of promethazine. All four occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest and processed at the St. Martin Parish Jail on the following charges:

Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Region 2 Criminal Investigations Division, working alongside the Milford, Massachusetts Police Department, conducted an extensive investigation that connected the suspects to a larger criminal organization involved in theft and fraud across the Northeast United States. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the Jeep, discovering approximately $5,700 in stolen and fraudulently obtained electronics, clothing, gift cards, and bank cards. The recovered evidence will be turned over to the Milford Police Department to further assist in their ongoing investigation.

This case highlights the important role of proactive policing and keen situational awareness in maintaining public safety. What began as a routine motorist assist quickly turned into a significant criminal investigation. Through their diligence, Troopers not only intercepted illegal drugs but also uncovered and disrupted a multi-state criminal operation. The Louisiana State Police remains committed to protecting communities and combating criminal activity wherever it arises.
