Motorcyclist Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Single-Vehicle Ascension Parish Crash

Prairieville – Shortly before 7:00 a.m. on May 30, 2026, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle serious injury crash involving a motorcycle on LA 73 near Duplessis Road in Ascension Parish. The crash resulted in the death of 19-year-old Jacobi Clement of Gonzales.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Clement was traveling north on LA 73 on a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja 650. For reasons still under investigation, Clement failed to negotiate a slight left curve, traveled off the right side of the road, and crashed.

Clement, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On May 31, 2026, at approximately 8:35 a.m., Troop A was notified that Clement succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
