Raceland – On April 17, 2026, shortly before 05:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C responded to a two-vehicle injury crash on Louisiana Highway 308 near Triple Oaks Drive. This crash claimed the life of 73-year-old Walter Foran of Raceland.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by Foran, was traveling north on LA Hwy 308 approaching Triple Oaks Drive. At the same time, a 2003 Honda Accord was attempting to make a left turn from Triple Oaks Drive onto LA Hwy 308. For reasons still under investigation, the Honda failed to yield to the approaching Harley-Davidson and entered the roadway. As a result, Harley-Davidson collided with the Honda.

The driver of the Honda was properly restrained and reported no injuries. Although Foran was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, he sustained serious injuries and was transported to an out-of-area hospital. Troopers were notified that Foran succumbed to his injuries on May 2, 2026.

Impairment is not suspected for either driver. This crash remains under investigation.

Maintaining vigilance while driving is paramount to ensuring road safety for yourself and others. Remain attentive, minimize distractions, and consistently scan the roadway ahead to respond to potential hazards quickly. By prioritizing alertness, we can all contribute to preventing crashes.
