Motorcyclist Killed in Vernon Parish Crash

Vernon Parish – On February 9, 2025, at approximately 12:08 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 8 near Comrade Road.  This crash claimed the life of 64-year-old Joseph M. Antee of Flatwoods. 

The initial investigation revealed that a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Antee, was westbound on Louisiana Highway 8. For reasons still under investigation, Antee failed to negotiate a left hand curve. As a result, the vehicle left the roadway, impacted a driveway embankment, and sequentially ejected Antee from the vehicle. 

Antee sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur.
