Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Livingston Parish

Springfield – Shortly before 2:00 p.m. on November 2, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 43 near Haynes Settlement Road in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 57-year-old Earl Duncan of Springfield, Louisiana.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Duncan was traveling north on LA 43 on a 1999 Honda motorcycle. At the same time, a 2024 Cadillac XT6 was also traveling north on LA 43 and attempted to pass the motorcycle in a legal passing zone. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle turned left into the path of the Cadillac, resulting in a collision.

Duncan sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. He was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Cadillac was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples will be collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. Additionally, when riding motorcycles, utilizing proper safety equipment, such as DOT-approved helmets, can decrease the chances of traumatic brain injury. We encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course.
