Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in East Baton Rouge Parish

Baton Rouge – Shortly after 12:00 p.m. on May 18, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 eastbound just before Siegen Lane. The crash claimed the life of 61-year-old Juanita Z. Linton of Prairieville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2023 Honda motorcycle, driven by Linton, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 just before Siegen Lane in the left lane. At the same time, a 2024 Ford Bronco was also traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 in the left lane in front of Linton. For reasons still under investigation, the Honda motorcycle ran into the back of the Ford Bronco.

Linton, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. While impairment is unknown, standard toxicology samples will be taken and submitted for analysis. The driver of the Bronco was properly restrained at the time of the crash and was uninjured. This crash is still under investigation.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to stress the importance of utilizing proper safety equipment, such as DOT-approved helmets. Properly wearing an approved helmet decreases the chances of traumatic brain injury. Additionally, Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course.
