Motorcyclist Killed in Single-Vehicle West Feliciana Parish Crash
Saint Francisville – Shortly before 3:45 p.m. on May 3, 2026, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on LA 965 north of LA 966 in West Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of 67-year-old Bruce Bellingham of Jackson, Louisiana.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Bellingham was traveling south on LA 965 on a 2017 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited. For reasons still under investigation, Bellingham failed to negotiate a slight right curve, exited the roadway to the left, and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Bellingham sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. He was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples will be obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while operating a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. As warmer weather approaches and more motorcycles take to the road, drivers are urged to remain alert, check twice for motorcyclists, and share the roadway responsibly to help prevent serious and fatal crashes. Additionally, when riding motorcycles, utilizing proper safety equipment, such as DOT-approved helmets, can decrease the chances of traumatic brain injury. We encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. Motorcycle riders can gain more information on helmet guidelines and rider safety courses by visiting https://www.lsp.org/services/training/motorcycle-safety/.
