Motorcyclist Killed in Head-on Crash in West Baton Rouge Parish

Erwinville – Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on December 21, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 413, south of LA 3091, in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash claimed the life of 52-year-old Martin Laster of Denham Springs.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Laster was operating a 2015 Indian motorcycle traveling north on LA 413, entering a right curve. At the same time, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on LA 413. For reasons still under investigation, Laster failed to negotiate the curve, crossed into the southbound lane of travel, and struck the Chevrolet head-on.

Laster sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. He was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is unknown; however, routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. Additionally, when riding motorcycles, utilizing proper safety equipment, such as DOT-approved helmets, can decrease the chances of traumatic brain injury. We encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course.
