Bernice – On Friday, July 25, 2025, shortly before 3:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Hwy 167 just south of Louisiana Hwy 2. The crash claimed the life of 69-year-old David Voorhies of Woodville, Mississippi.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Voorhies was driving a 2008 Honda motorcycle north on U.S. Hwy 167. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle exited the roadway and collided with a cattle gate.

Voorhies, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur.
