Saint Rose – On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, just after 8:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 310 north near US 61 in St. Charles Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 29-year-old Kenia Alvarado of Metairie and seriously injured another.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Dodge Ram, driven by 43-year-old Gary Entremont of Montz, was traveling recklessly on Interstate 310 north, just north of US 61. At the same time, a Honda sedan was northbound on Interstate 310. For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge impacted the rear of the Honda, causing the Honda to catch fire.

The driver of the Honda suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Alvarado, the front seat passenger of the Honda, suffered serious injuries and died on scene. Due to the severity of the crash, it is unknown if the occupants of the Honda were restrained at the time of the crash.

Entremont, who was restrained at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. During the investigation, Entremont displayed multiple signs of impairment and was arrested. Entremont provided breath and blood samples - toxicology results are pending. He was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in St. Charles on the following charges: Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Driving While Impaired (1st Offense), Negligent Homicide, and Negligent Injuring. This crash remains under investigation.

Speeding, aggressive driving, and impaired driving continue to be leading causes of fatal crashes. Speeding reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around curves or objects in the roadway, extends the distance necessary to stop a vehicle, and increases the distance a vehicle travels while the driver reacts to a situation. Impaired driving, whether from alcohol, drugs, or both, is dangerous and can have deadly consequences. Troopers want to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. Motorists who observe reckless driving or criminal activity are encouraged to dial 911 or *LSP (*577) to connect with the nearest Louisiana State Police Troop.
