Mexican National Arrested Following SVU Investigation in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge – In January 2026, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP/SVU), working in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Baton Rouge Resident Office (FBI), and the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office, conducted an investigation pertaining to sexual exploitation of children. This operation resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Javier Mendoza Valiente, a Mexican National residing in Baton Rouge.

During the investigation, LSP/SVU detectives, with assistance from partner agencies, conducted online operations aimed at identifying individuals using social media platforms to exploit minors. During the operation, Valiente engaged in sexually explicit conversations with an individual he believed to be a 15-year-old minor.

On February 9, 2026, Valiente was arrested in Baton Rouge. He was charged with Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. During the investigation, it was confirmed that Valiente was residing in the United States illegally. This investigation remains ongoing.

LSP SVU works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and through public education. The public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
