Bastrop – On Saturday, August 2, 2025, shortly before 4:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 3051 just west of Thibodeaux Road. The crash claimed the life of 47-year-old Christopher Johnson of Mer Rouge.
The initial investigation revealed that Johnson was driving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria west on Louisiana Highway 3051. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
Johnson, who was unrestrained, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police want to remind all drivers and passengers that seat belts save lives. Whether traveling across town or the state, wearing your seat belt is the simplest and most effective way to protect yourself in a crash. Buckling up reduces your risk of serious injury or death by nearly half and is required by law in Louisiana for all occupants, regardless of seating position. Make seat belt use a habit—every trip, every seat, every time.
