UPDATE 12/3/2025 – Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D and detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations – Sulphur Field Office have continued to investigate leads in the hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of 53-year-old Bonnie Fontenot of Jennings. As the investigation moves forward, detectives have partnered with Crime Stoppers Lake Charles, which is offering a reward for information that advances the case.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is an older model 1997-2004 Ford F-150 painted in Pacific Green Metallic (turquoise green). Information gathered suggests that the vehicle may frequent the Jefferson Davis Parish area. Possible damage should be to the front and/or driver's side area of the pickup.

Following continued analysis of evidence collected, a potential year(s), make, and model of a suspect vehicle has been identified. Investigators currently believe the suspect vehicle is an older model 1997-2004 Ford F-150 painted in Pacific Green Metallic (turquoise green). Information gathered suggests that the vehicle may frequent the Jefferson Davis Parish area. Possible damage should be to the front and/or driver's side area of the pickup.

UPDATE 9/3/2025 – Louisiana State Police Troop D continues its investigation into the hit-and-run that resulted in the death of 53-yearold Bonnie Fontenot of Jennings. Forensic analysis has confirmed that Fontenot was struck by a vehicle sometime between August 22, 2025, and August 27, 2025.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle may be a pickup truck or SUV, likely green or turquoise in color, with possible damage to the front end and/or driver's side. Investigative leads suggest that the vehicle may frequent Iowa or US-165 in the Jefferson Davis Parish area. This crash remains under investigation.
ORIGINAL RELEASE 8/27/2025 – Iowa – On August 27, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on the Interstate 10 north frontage road just east of U.S. Highway 165 in Jefferson Davis Parish. The crash claimed the life of 53-year-old Bonnie Fontenot of Jennings, who had previously been reported missing by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown vehicle traveling on the I-10 frontage road struck Fontenot and left the scene.
Fontenot sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. This crash remains under investigation.
