Juvenile Passenger Killed, Another Seriously Injured in East Feliciana Parish Crash
Slaughter – Shortly before 5:40 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA 958 south of LA 959 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of 16-year-old Murphy Andes of Clinton.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1997 Toyota 4Runner was traveling north on LA 958 while approaching a left curve. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right. The driver then overcorrected, causing the Toyota to travel off the roadway to the left, rotate, and overturn.
The driver, a 16-year-old juvenile from Clinton, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Andes, the front seat passenger, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Both occupants were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples will be collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police reminds motorists that proper restraint use significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or death in a crash. Making responsible decisions behind the wheel, including wearing a seat belt and remaining attentive, can save lives. While not all crashes are preventable, simple precautions like these can save lives.
