Harvey – On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 7:11 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a three-vehicle crash on US 90B at Manhattan Boulevard in Jefferson Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 53-year-old Jose Bueso-Siguense of Gretna.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Toyota Rav4 was stopped behind a 2006 Chevrolet HHR on the elevated portion of US 90B near Manhattan Boulevard due to traffic congestion. At the same time, a 2012 Nissan Titan, driven by 43-year-old Felipe Reyes-Ventura of Gretna, was entering the elevated portion of US 90B from Lafayette Street. For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan impacted the rear of the Toyota. Due to the impact, the Toyota was then pushed forward, impacting the rear of the Chevrolet.

Bueso-Siguense, the front seat passenger of the Nissan, was unrestrained, suffered serious injuries, and was transported to a local hospital where he died. Reyes-Ventura, who was restrained at the time of the crash, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The drivers and passengers of the Toyota and Chevrolet were all properly restrained, suffered minor injuries, and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, Reyes-Ventura displayed signs of impairment. Toxicology samples were obtained from Reyes-Ventura for analysis. Reyes-Ventura was subsequently arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for Vehicular Homicide, three counts of Vehicular Negligent Injuring, Reckless Operation, and No Driver’s License. This crash remains under investigation.

Far too often, Troopers see the tragic results of preventable crashes. Louisiana State Police urge motorists to plan ahead before consuming alcohol. Impaired driving, whether from alcohol, drugs, or both, is dangerous and can have deadly consequences. Always avoid driving or riding with an impaired driver, ensure all passengers are properly restrained, and stay focused on the road. Making responsible choices can save lives.
