Houma Man Arrested for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Houma – In October of 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU), working in conjunction with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, began an investigation on 52-year-old Darren Bontempo of Houma into the possession of child sexual abuse material.

On November 13, 2024, LSP SVU Investigators executed search and arrest warrants at Bontempo’s residence, resulting in his arrest. Bontempo was charged with LRS 14:81.1 - Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material Under the Age of 13 (33 counts) and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Center. This investigation remains active and ongoing.


LSP SVU works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and through public education. The public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
