Holden Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash
Ethel – On November 8, 2022, shortly before 4:00 am, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 19 south of LA 10 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 36-year-old Brandon Martin of Holden.
The initial investigation revealed that Martin was driving a 2015 Audi sedan headed south on LA 19. For reasons still being investigated, Martin attempted to pass a vehicle, ran off the roadway to the left, and struck a driveway embankment. Upon impact, the vehicle became airborne and struck a utility pole before overturning.
Martin was properly restrained at the time of the crash, but suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. While impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were taken and results are pending.
Troopers encourage motorists to always make safe choices while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Always follow traffic laws and ensure that every occupant is properly restrained. Not all crashes are survivable, but taking simple precautions such as the aforementioned can often be the difference between life and death.
