Head-On Crash Takes Life of Marrero Man

Avondale – On November 22, 2021 shortly before 1:00 pm, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 90, near Coretta Drive in Avondale. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 89-year-old Anthony Talamo of Marrero.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling west on US 90 in the left lane. At the same time, a 2014 GMC Sierra was traveling east on US 90 in the left lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Sierra crossed the center median, entered the westbound lanes and collided head on with the Altima.

Talamo, who was properly restrained in the front passenger seat of the Altima, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he later died. The driver of the Altima was also properly restrained, suffered serious injuries and is being treated at a local hospital. The driver of the Sierra was unrestrained, suffered moderate injuries and is also being treated at a local hospital.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted, follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
