Dunn – On Saturday, August 16, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 20 just east of Louisiana Highway 609. The crash claimed the life of 59-year-old Roland Flemings of Gretna.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2014 Kenworth dump truck, driven by Flemings, was traveling west on Interstate 20 in the right lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Kenworth traveled off the right side of the road, struck a tree, and overturned.
Flemings, who was properly restrained, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Although the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Police reminds all motorists of the importance of practicing safe driving habits. Staying alert, avoiding distractions, obeying traffic laws, wearing your seat belt, and never driving impaired are critical steps to protect yourself and others on the road. Every driver plays a role in keeping Louisiana’s highways safe.
