Glenmora Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Natchitoches Parish Crash

Cloutierville – On Saturday, June 1, 2024, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop E began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 49 southbound just north of Louisiana Highway 119. The crash claimed the life of 59-year-old Robert Pettway of Glenmora.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2022 Kenworth commercial motor vehicle driven by Pettway was traveling south on Interstate 49. For reasons still under investigation, the Kenworth traveled off the right side of the road and struck a culvert.

Pettway suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Restraint use is unknown. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Follow all traffic laws and always ensure that every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.

In 2024, Troop E has investigated 26 fatal crashes, resulting in 28 deaths.
