Franklinton Man Arrested For Drug Distribution and Second-Degree Murder

Franklinton - On October 6, 2024, the Franklinton Police Department requested the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division assist with a homicide investigation after 67-year-old Frankie Crosby of Franklinton was found deceased earlier that day.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Crosby was discovered deceased in his vehicle near the 1400 block of Parker Street in Franklinton. Initial findings indicated that Crosby’s death was the result of an overdose. The Washington Parish Coroner later confirmed that the cause of death was combined drug toxicity. Both cocaine and fentanyl were identified in Crosby’s system.

Following a collaborative investigation by the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division, the Franklinton Police Department, the 22nd Judicial District Court District Attorney's Office, and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Dayon Dyson of Franklinton was identified as the source of the illicit drugs that contributed to Crosby’s death. Investigators secured an arrest warrant for Dyson through the 22nd Judicial District Court.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Dyson was located and taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Washington Parish Jail on charges of Distribution of Fentanyl and Second-Degree Murder. Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.

The Louisiana State Police is serving as the lead investigative agency in this case. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with no further information available at this time.
