Covington – On October 27, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries on LA Hwy 25 near Sweet Olive Lane in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of 39-year-old Rachel Bitter of Folsom.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Ford E250 van was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 25. At the same time, Bitter was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 25 in a 2013 Cadillac ATS. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford crossed the centerline into the northbound lane and struck the front left side of the Cadillac.
Bitter, who was properly restrained, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Ford, who was also properly restrained, sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
