Driver Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Calcasieu Parish Crash 
Moss Bluff – On September 20, 2022, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D was notified of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US Hwy 171 and Parish Road in Calcasieu Parish. The crash claimed the life of 44-year-old-of Amy Carol Richard of Moss Bluff.  

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Honda CRV, driven by Richard, entered the intersection of US 171 from Parish Road. At the same time, the driver of a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer, who was traveling south, struck the Honda as she attempted to make a left turn onto US 171.

Seat belt usage on the part of Richard is unknown at this time. She was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries where she succumbed to her injures. The driver of the Chevrolet was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. 


Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths in 2022.
