Kinder - On September 26, 2025, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Highway 190 near Richard Smith Road in Allen Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 59-year-old Dexter Thomas of DeQuincy.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra east on US Hwy 190. At the same time, a 2013 Peterbilt 18-wheeler was traveling west on US Hwy 190, followed by a 2022 Ram 2500 pulling a trailer. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC crossed the centerline and struck the left side of the Peterbilt before also striking the left side of the trailer being pulled by the Ram.
Thomas sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The drivers of the Peterbilt and the Ram sustained minor injuries. All occupants were properly restrained at the time of the crash.
Standard toxicology samples were collected from all drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
