Lafayette Parish – On December 26, 2024, 33-year-old Brandon Adams of St. Martinville was arrested in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of 38-year-old Ashley Campbell. Toxicology samples collected from Adams revealed the presence of illegal narcotics in his system at the time of the crash.
After obtaining an arrest warrant, Troopers booked Adams into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for LA RS 14:32.1 Vehicular Homicide, LA RS 14:39 Vehicular Negligent Injuring, LA RS 32:58 Careless Operation, LA RS 32:295 Child Passenger Restraint, LA RS 32: 295.1 Seatbelt Restraint, and LA RS 32:415 Operating a Vehicle while License is Suspended.

Unrestrained Occupants Killed, Injured in Separate Overnight Acadiana Area Crashes
Duson – On October 28, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle hit-and-run fatality crash on Interstate 10 West just east of Louisiana Highway 343 in Lafayette Parish. The crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Ashley Campbell of Temple, Texas.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz was traveling west on I-10 in the right lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai struck the rear of an unknown commercial motor vehicle (CMV). Following the collision, the Hyundai traveled off the roadway to the right, while the CMV continued westbound on I-10.
The unrestrained driver of the Hyundai and a juvenile passenger, whose restraint use is under investigation, sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Campbell, who was a passenger and unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis.

Washington – Later that morning, just before 4:00 a.m., Troopers began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 49 near the I-49 Rest Area in St. Landry Parish. The crash claimed the life of 46-year-old Markis Williams of Sterlington.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Williams was driving a 2006 GMC Sierra south on I-49. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC traveled off the roadway to the left. Despite attempts by Williams to regain control, the GMC entered the grass median and overturned.
Williams, who was unrestrained and ejected from the GMC, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis. These crashes remain under investigation.
