Driver Arrested in Connection with Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash

On July 1, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I arrested 39-year-old Kayla Ardoin of Mamou in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on June 25, 2025, in Evangeline Parish. 

Through investigative means, Troopers identified a suspect vehicle and determined Ardoin to be the driver at the time of the crash. An arrest warrant was obtained through the 13th Judicial District Court, and Ardoin was processed into the Evangeline Parish Jail for LA RS 14:100 Felony Hit-and-Run Driving. This crash remains under investigation. 
 

Troopers wish to remind motorists of the critical importance of stopping at the scene of any crash. Louisiana State Police Seek Public Assistance in Hit and Run Crash that Killed Bicyclist  

Mamou – On June 25, 2025, shortly after 7:30 a.m. Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a two-vehicle hit-and run fatality crash involving a motorized bicycle on LA Hwy 3149 near its intersection with LA Hwy 104 in Evangeline Parish. The crash claimed the life of 55-year-old Errol Deville of Eunice. 

The preliminary investigation revealed Deville was traveling south on LA Hwy 3149 while riding a motorized bicycle. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was also traveling south on LA Hwy 3149. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck the rear of the bicycle in the southbound lane and fled the scene without calling for assistance or rendering aid.   

Deville, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.  

Troopers are working to identify the vehicle and its driver and urge anyone with information related to this crash or who may have been in the area to contact Louisiana State Police Troop I at 337-262-5880.
