Denham Springs Man Killed in Livingston Parish Crash

Denham Springs – Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on December 28, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a fatal crash on LA 1019 near Gravesbriar Drive in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Jonathan Orellana-Alas of Denham Springs.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Toyota Scion, driven by Orellana-Alas, was traveling eastbound on LA 1019, just west of Gravesbriar Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota traveled off the roadway to the right, entered a ditch, struck a culvert, and impacted a utility pole.

Orellana-Alas was properly restrained, sustained serious injuries, and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Impairment is not suspected; however, a standard toxicology sample will be taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
