Clinton Man Killed in Early Morning Crash in East Feliciana Parish

Clinton – Shortly after 5:30 a.m. on May 21, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 63 near LA 37 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of 62-year-old Gregory Chenevert of Clinton.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Chenevert was standing in front of a stalled 2000 Chevrolet Silverado in the eastbound lane of LA 63 just beyond a sharp curve, with no active lights or hazard signals. At the same time, a 2015 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on LA 63. The Ram struck the rear of the Silverado, which then collided with Chenevert.

Chenevert sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Dodge was unrestrained at the time of the crash but was uninjured. Impairment is not suspected; however, standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind all motorists to ensure their vehicles are properly equipped with functioning lights and signals, especially when stationary on or near the roadway. Safe decisions behind the wheel, including wearing a seat belt, driving alert, and using hazard lights when disabled can save lives.
