Catahoula Parish – On August 7, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 567 north of U.S. Highway 425. This crash claimed the life of 59-year-old Bobby Case of Clayton.
The initial investigation revealed that a 1999 Ford F-250, driven by a 16-year-old juvenile, was southbound on Louisiana Highway 567. For reasons still under investigation, the juvenile crossed the centerlines, entered the northbound travel lane and struck a northbound 1990 Harley Davidson (HD) motorcycle, driven by Case. As a result, the HD overturned and ejected Case from the vehicle.
Case sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The juvenile driver, who was restrained, sustained no injuries. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis.
While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving. A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences.
