Bicyclist Killed in West Baton Rouge Parish Crash

Port Allen – Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on October 25, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist on US 190 at Grand Bayou Road in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash claimed the life of 34-year-old Erin Constantin of Rayne.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Constantin was riding a bicycle west on US 190 in the left travel lane while wearing dark clothing and without front or rear lights on the bicycle. At the same time, a 2024 Hyundai Elantra was also traveling west on US 190. For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai struck the rear of the bicycle.

Constantin sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Hyundai was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is an unknown factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology samples will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind all road users to remain vigilant and share the road responsibly. Bicyclists should wear visible clothing, use lights when riding at night, and adhere to all traffic laws. Motorists are urged to exercise extra caution and be alert for pedestrians and cyclists, especially in low-visibility conditions.
