Bicyclist Killed in Livingston Parish Crash

Denham Springs – Shortly after 6:00 p.m., on November 17, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist on LA 1025 near Somerset Lane in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 53-year-old Jason Causey of Denham Springs.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Causey was traveling west on LA 1025 on a bicycle in a right-hand curve. At the same time, a 2002 Dodge Ram was also traveling west on LA 1025, approaching Causey’s location. For reasons still under investigation, the right side of the truck struck Causey.

Causey sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Dodge was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind all road users to remain vigilant and share the road responsibly. Bicyclists should wear visible clothing, use lights when riding at night, and adhere to all traffic laws. Motorists are urged to exercise extra caution and be alert for pedestrians and cyclists, especially in low-visibility conditions.
