Golden Meadow – On October 30, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash involving a bicycle on Louisiana Highway 3235 near La Salette Drive. The crash claimed the life of 60-year-old Carl Guidry of Golden Meadow.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Guidry was attempting to cross LA Hwy 3235 on a bicycle while riding east. At the same time, a 2014 Dodge 2500 was traveling north on LA Hwy 3235. For reasons still under investigation, Guidry failed to yield to the approaching Dodge and was struck.

Guidry sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was properly restrained and not injured.

The driver of the Dodge was not suspected of being impaired and voluntarily provided a breath sample which showed no alcohol detected. A standard toxicology sample was collected from Guidry and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind bicyclists that Louisiana law classifies bicycles as vehicles, requiring operators to follow the same traffic rules as motorists. Additionally, staying visible by using proper lighting and wearing brightly colored or reflective clothing in low-light conditions enhances your safety when sharing the road.
