Belle Rose Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Ascension Parish

Donaldsonville – Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on September 25, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash on LA 70 at LA 3127 in Ascension Parish. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Laterrius Williams of Belle Rose.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 BMW 535, driven by Williams, was traveling northbound on LA 70 behind a 2023 Ford pickup truck hauling a 25-foot flatbed trailer. As the Ford approached the intersection of LA 3127, it began to brake in an effort to merge into the right turning lane. For reasons still under investigation, the BMW impacted the rear of the Ford at a high rate of speed.

Williams was improperly restrained and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Ford was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is not a suspected factor in this crash, however, standard toxicology samples will be taken and submitted for analysis. This crash is still under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
