Holden – On April 25, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 12, just west of the LA Hwy 441 exit in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 70-year-old Steven Lockwood of Baton Rouge.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 Ford Transit van, driven by Lockwood, was traveling westbound on Interstate 12. At the same time, a 2020 Kenworth tractor trailer was traveling westbound on Interstate 12 and slowing to a stop due to traffic congestion. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford struck the Kenworth.

Lockwood, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth, also properly restrained, suffered minor injuries. As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers for analysis.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
