Baton Rouge Man Arrested for Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with Juveniles

St. Tammany Parish – On October 17, 2024, Detectives from the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU) arrested 33-year-old Joel Champagne (B/M) of Baton Rouge for attempting to engage in sexual acts with a minor. https://www.stpso.com/site/inmates/262179

On September 27, 2024, LSP SVU, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, initiated an investigation related to the solicitation of a minor. Champagne was identified as the suspect. He attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old juvenile and requested to travel to meet for sexual intercourse with the minor.

On October 17, 2024, Champagne traveled from his residence in Baton Rouge, LA to a meeting location in St. Tammany Parish with the intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor. As a result, Champagne was arrested for Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with Juveniles. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. This case remains active and is ongoing pending further investigation. No further information is available at this time.
