Baton Rouge Crash Tied to Carjacking Results in Arrests

Baton Rouge – Shortly before 5:45 a.m. on September 7, 2025, officers with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a single-vehicle crash on River Road near Dort Street in Baton Rouge. The crash involved a Ford Mustang that struck a light pole and overturned. Four occupants exited the vehicle and were immediately attended to by responding officers.

During the crash investigation, officers learned the occupants had committed multiple violent offenses minutes earlier in the downtown area. The preliminary investigation revealed that before the crash, the suspects approached two victims on S. River Rd. north of Government St. and forcibly stole a crossbody bag containing personal items and a 9mm pistol. During that incident, one suspect stole the victim’s vehicle and assaulted another individual who tried to intervene.

The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, trapping the victim in the door and dragging them, causing injuries. A short time later, the subject abandoned the victim’s vehicle and entered a Ford Mustang belonging to one of the suspects. They then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
