On April 20, 1982, Trooper Jean-Claude Crescionne was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Pointe Coupee Parish.

Trooper Crescionne was conducting enforcement patrol on U.S. 190 when a tractor trailer turned in front of his vehicle. Trooper Crescionne was unable to stop, colliding with the truck, and died at the scene.

At the time of his death, Trooper Jean-Claude Crescionne was 35 years old and had been a Trooper for eight years, six months, and six days.
