RADAR/LIDAR Instructor Course

This course is intended to develop instructor skills. Students will learn how to develop and implement an operator’s course, become proficient in instructional methodologies, and become familiar with the technical aspects and legal issues of RADAR/LIDAR operation. Students will utilize classroom teach-back techniques and practical exercises with the latest equipment. For this reason, students must have a solid proficiency level as radar/lidar operators. 

Bring a calculator that displays the sine function for simple calculations.

Prerequisite: Students must have been certified as radar/lidar operators for at least two years before the class.

Required Equipment: A laptop computer and Lidar if you have one.

Course Fee: Grant Funded

Dress Code: Agency uniform (polo and khaki) or business casual

Directions: The Training Academy is located on the Department of Public Safety Compound, behind the Office of Motor Vehicles retail branch.

Parking: Training Academy parking lot-DPS HQ compound

Lodging: Provided for officers who reside outside of the Troop A area.

Meals: Provided (breakfast and lunch for all students)
