Rayne On December 15, 2023, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 10 about 3 miles west of Louisiana Highway 35. The crash claimed the life of 45-year-old Christopher Rober Fisher of Lafayette.

The preliminary investigation revealed Tiffany Baker of Dodson was traveling east on I-10 while driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage. At the same time, a 2015 International 18-wheeler was parked on the right shoulder of I-10 East. For reasons still under investigation, the Mitsubishi traveled off the roadway to the right and struck the rear of the International.

Tiffany Baker, whose restraint use is still being investigated, suffered minor injuries. Fisher, the front passenger of the Mitsubishi, was not restrained, suffered fatal injuries, and died at the scene. The driver of the International was properly restrained and suffered no injuries.

A standard toxicology sample was collected from Tiffany Baker and is awaiting analysis. The driver of the International was determined not to be impaired and voluntarily submitted to a breath sample, which showed no alcohol detected. This crash remains under investigation, with charges pending.
