Unrestrained East Feliciana Teenager Killed After Head-On Crash in Clinton

ClintonOn October 22, 2023, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 67, south of LA 10 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 17-year-old Morgan Johnson of Ethel.

The initial investigation revealed that Johnson was headed north in a 2010 Mazda 6 on LA 67.  At the same time, a 2012 Dodge Ram 4500 was traveling south on LA 67.  For reasons still being investigated, the Mazda failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, reentered the roadway, and crossed the centerline. Immediately thereafter, the Mazda struck the Dodge head-on.

Johnson, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, was ejected upon impact.  As a result, Johnson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the Dodge was also unrestrained and sustained minor injuries.  Toxicology samples were taken from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
