Unrestrained Driver Succumbs to Injuries in St. Charles Parish Crash

St. Rose – On October 1, 2021, just after 4:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 48 near Ponderosa Road. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 85-year-old Pat Kennedy of St. Rose.

The initial investigation revealed Kennedy was traveling west on LA Hwy 48 in a 2002 Ford F-150. For reasons still under investigation, Kennedy failed to negotiate a curve causing the Ford to run off the roadway and through a ditch before striking a tree.

Kennedy was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered severe injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and on October 5, 2021, she succumbed to her injuries. Impairment is unknown, however routine toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted for analysis.

Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. While not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seatbelt greatly reduces the chances of being killed or seriously injured in a crash. Having a plan and making safe decisions could be the difference for tomorrow.
