Unrestrained Driver Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in East Baton Rouge Parish

Baton Rouge – Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on May 8, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of LA 37 and Monticello Blvd. The crash claimed the life of 41-year-old Patrick George Isadore of Baton Rouge.

The preliminary investigation revealed Isadore was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe north on LA 37 approaching a red light at the intersection of Monticello Blvd. At the same time, a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling south on LA 37 and was attempting to make a left turn onto Monticello Blvd. For reasons unknown, Isadore traveled through the intersection while a red signal light was displayed. The front of the Tahoe impacted the right side of the Malibu. After the initial impact, the Tahoe rotated and overturned.

Isadore, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was partially ejected from the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Malibu, who was also unrestrained at the time of the crash, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Impairment is unknown at this time, however, standard toxicology samples will be taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in crashes.
