Unrestrained Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Acadia Parish

Eunice– Shortly after 1:00 a.m., on January 19, 2024, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 3116 near Donna Lane. The crash claimed the life of 75-year-old John C. Ledoux Jr. of Eunice.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as Ledoux was driving a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander southbound on LA 3116. For reasons still under investigation, the Outlander exited the roadway to the left. Upon doing so, the Outlander entered a ditch and struck a culvert.

Ledoux was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office.  

Impairment is unknown, and a toxicology sample was obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. Wearing a seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself from injury or death in a crash. Always buckle up before starting your vehicle, and ensure that all passengers in the vehicle do the same.
