Unrestrained Driver Killed in Lafourche Parish Crash

Thibodaux – On February 20, 2023, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C was notified of a two-vehicle serious injury crash on Louisiana Highway 3107 at the intersection with Ridgefield Road. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 47-year-old Tyrone Williams of Thibodaux.

As the investigation progressed, Troopers determined Williams was traveling west on Ridgefield Road in a 2023 Ford Mustang. At the same time, a 2007 Ford Expedition was traveling north on LA Hwy 3107. For reasons still under investigation, Williams failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with LA Hwy 3107, entered into the path of the Expedition, and was struck.

Williams, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, was ejected from his vehicle, suffered severe injuries, and was transported to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after arrival. The driver of the Expedition was properly restrained and suffered minor injuries.

A standard toxicology sample was collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Motorists should always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Additionally, taking just 3 seconds to buckle up is your best defense for surviving a traffic crash. Always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. Every trip. Every time.

Troop C has investigated 4 fatal crashes resulting in 5 fatalities in 2023.
