Unrestrained Driver Killed in Allen Parish Crash

Pitkin - On February 17, 2024, shortly before 6:15 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 377 about 2 ½ miles north of LA Hwy 112 in Allen Parish. The crash claimed the life of 36-year-old Jared Bartley Doyle of Pitkin.

The initial investigation revealed a 2007 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Doyle, was traveling north on LA 377. For unknown reasons, the Dodge traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Doyle, who was not restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing people can do to minimize the risk of injury in the event of a crash. Louisiana state law requires all occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. It only takes 3 seconds. Always wear your seat belt. Every trip. Every time.

Troop D has investigated 1 fatal crash resulting in 1 death in 2024.
