Two Unrestrained Men Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Jefferson Parish

Jefferson Parish - Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on December 8, 2023, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. 90B near Scotsdale Drive in Harvey. The crash claimed the lives of 37-year-old Joshua L. Bruce of New Orleans and 47-year-old Dale Bourg of Marrero.

The initial investigation revealed that Bruce was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado west on U.S.90B near Scotsdale Drive. For reasons still under investigation, Bruce failed to maintain control of his vehicle, traveled off the roadway and impacted a bridge support.

Bruce was unrestrained at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bourg, the front-seat passenger in the vehicle, was also unrestrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is unknown, and a toxicology sample was obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. We ask you to take three seconds to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of preventable death in motor vehicle crashes.
